Barry Larkin Class of 2012 MLB Hall of Fame - A first for this Reds fan.

January 9, 2012 3:05pm - Barry Larkin announced as the lone inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I have been a fan of the Reds since 1976, at the age of 5. I remember seeing Tony Perez play and watching him inducted into the hall of fame in 2000. That being said, Tony was never a big influence on me as a baseball player or as a Reds fan. Don't get me wrong, I liked Tony during his time with the Reds.

Speaking as a life long Reds fan --- When you spend years of following a player, season after season, ups and downs, you feel a kinship with that player. Barry Larkin is the first Reds player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, for the years I can honestly say I understood the game and knew how he played. Barry Larkin is a player this baseball player/Reds fan watched and emulated from 1986 to the current date, and beyond. Barry's nomination into the Hall of Fame is not only his to cherish, but it's this Reds fans to cherish as well.

Congratulations Barry, I always knew you would get here. HALL OF FAMER

Thanks and Cheers from the Cheap Seats.
